Best kittens Care And Nutrition from birth to adulthood.
For anyone who is new to adopting kittens here is the best kittens care & nutrition guide week by week.
There is nothing cuter than seeing a kitten playing with a ball of yarn. Or the fun of seeing two kittens fight over a squishy ball. So now you have an adorable ball of fur, two or maybe even more…..the question arises what now? being a dedicated cat lover who has personally hand raised at least 3 litters of kittens I can tell you taking care of kittens can be hard work that if done right can feel extremely rewarding…
Kittens are pretty much similar to human babies as they are completely dependent on their mothers or primal care givers for everything. Lets now explore the best care and nutrition for kittens that can be provided week by week.
Kittens Care And Nutrition Guide From Birth To 2 Weeks
To care fore a new born kitten can be quite challenging as they require special care and attention. for starters kittens are best cared for by the mother. However in her absence make sure to keep the kittens warm, as they can die of hypothermia almost instantly. so for starters make sure to keep them warm and comfortable. if there are more than one make sure to keep the litter together (unless the vet advices otherwise) as they provide warmth and comfort to each other.
When it comes to nutrition the only thing a new born kitten requires is its mother’s milk or in its absence a cat milk replacement.
Nutri-Vet Milk Replacement For Kittens - Healthy Gut Support with Probiotics. provides the adequate amount of essential nutrients, probiotics and required for the kitten. This product is a great option by which you can make sure your kitten receives the same nourishment and antibodies acquired in the mother’s milk.
Kittens need a lot of attention care and love from the moment they are born
nursing your kittens…
Now that you have the formula milk well prepared and ready to be fed, the question arises as to how? For that you could very simply use Pet Cat Dog Silicone Feeding Bottle for Puppy/Kitten Feeder Nipple Tool.
Make sure the kitten latches on well to the bottle.
DON’T make the formula too hot or you might burn her tongue.
ALWAYS remember to be patient and as gentle as possible for a hungry kitten can get very demanding and impatient
2-4 Weeks..
A lot has happened in these past two weeks. Your kitty has opened her eyes that appear blue at this stage for her vision is still blurry. She has started to respond to loud sound as she has started to hear as well. Little by little her paws are gaining balance and she is starting to explore her close surroundings…
FACTS TO KNOW:: kittens do not urinate or excrete in the first few weeks of their life unless stimulated by the mother which she does by licking…although not very necessary you can however gently massage her tummy with your index finger to help her with her digestion…
DOS & DONTS:
Do make sure you make the milk according to the instructions mentioned on
Don’t make and store milk for long periods of time.
Do make sure you give the kitten the same warm comfy feel provided by a mother while feeding.
Do Make sure to keep the kittens warm and and snuggly to make sure it feels safe.
4 Weeks
By the fourth week most kittens are ready to be weaned but make sure not to haste to fast…take it slow a little bit at a time make sure to introduce the wet cat food specially formulated for kittens mixed with a little water or formula milk.
Begin with no more than one to two spoonful’s at a time and see how the kitten reacts to it. Remember not all kittens develop exactly the same, some might be ready to wean by 4 weeks while some might be late bloomers…
My recommendation is Purina Pro Plan High Protein Wet kitten food. Purina is a well known and world wide trusted brand that not just provides high quality nutrition for kittens, but also has a delectable variety of flavours that never bores kittens and cats alike
