Although the Turkish Angora and Persian cats might be pretty similar, as both are long haired breeds and are sometimes mistaken for each other. Lets see 7 differences between Turkish Angora and Persian cats. One reason might also be that the Persian cat’s origins can be traced back to the Turkish Angora. there are still many differences between the two breeds.
difference in physical features
1.body structure
The Turkish angora is a medium sized cat with a slender body while the Persian cat is more robust. The Persian cat has more muscle mass and a wider bone structure than the Turkish Angora cat who one the contrary have a leaner body structure with leaner muscle mass and bone structure as well. Another noticeable difference between the breeds is the size. The Persian cats are generally larger in size. the Turkish Cats average weight rarely reaches 6 kgs. whereas the Persian cat can reach up to 8 kgs. as well.
2. coat length and colours.
The turkish angora cat has a a shorter length coat compared to the persian cat also has a thicker coat which if not groomed regularly can look very unruly. though they both have soft coats the angora coat is silkier in comparison giving off a more satin feel.
Another striking feature of the pure bred turkish angora is that its coat is almost always white however with breeding with other breeds different colours can be achieved.
3. face structure
The most obvious difference between the two breeds is the face. The turkish angora has a long, full out face with big almond shaped eyes a long slender jaw line and a well proportioned nose, whereas the persian has a flat face with small round eyes and a tiny snout, all the features of the persian are rounder The Turkish has big eyes and the Persians eyes are rounder in comparison.
4.tails.
One of the most beautiful feature of any animal is undoubtedly the tail. it is the one thing that animals have and we dont! well with that said when we talk about the tails of the two breeds the persian like its coat has a more bushy and somewhat shorter tail in legth. the turkish angora like the rest of its build has a longer silkier and less bushy tail.
difference in characteristics
One cannot lay enough emphasis on the fact that regardless of breed just like all humans every cat has its own unique personality. Each cat is an individual on its own, however there are certain attributes or qualities that a breed may possess which differentiates it from others, These istic differences include physical and characteristics as well.
5. socialising
when it comes to socialising the turkish angora is more towards the social side than the latter. although this does not mean that the angora will be the life of the party! they do however bond more quickly than the persians. they preffer being around people and will be more dependent on their human companions, in some instances even walking behind then all day.
The persian however is more of an indepedent cat who prefers a smaller audience of admirers than the huge crowd. although a loving breed the persian cat does well in solidarity and gets along well enough as long as it has its own personal space and bounadries.
6.compatibility with children and other pets
As mentioned earlier the angora has lesser boundaries than the persian cat, hence is more comfortable living with children and other pets. one thing to keep in mind is that the angora is not a lap cat and would well prefer sitting beside their favourite human than in the lap. the angora does well around kids of all ages, and other household pets. also given its playful, yet gentle temperment enjoys playtime as well. this said it does not mean that the persian is unfriendly in any manner! its just that the persian has a more cautious aura and prefers a less noisy or hustling environement.
One thing to always keepin minid is that the socialising period of any cat is between 3-4 months. this is the time that kittens learn to socialise ad develop thier personality the most.
smaller children should always be monitered at all times with any animal unless thier old enough to be responsible not to harm their pets or themselves for that matter!

7. temperment and habitual adaptability
The Turkish Angora cat is quite an intelligent breed with a streak of curiosity that pretty much stays life long. they love to play and given the right encouragement can be quite energetic. The Persian is also an intelligent breed With a mild temperment, is not a high energy cat and prefers subtle play. given its natural demenour the persian cat can have weight issues and needs constant coaxing to playtime. as they also have a tendency to get bored easily.
Although both are long haired cats and both originate from the cold region. the angora cat is more adaptable and even loves the outdoors and wouldn’t mind the occasional outings. The Persian is not much of an outdoor cat and would vey rmuch be confortable indoors be it an apartment or villa alike.
All said and done which ever you choose to live with, remember that all cats are special individuals and have their own unique personalty.
