We all like to share a little bit of food with our furry friends. and though this is mostly a harmless practice there are however some food they should not eat. lets check out 7 foods cats should never eat.

1.chocolate

We all might have a craving for a bar of chocolate every now and then this might go for you but remember chocolate is a BIG NO! for your kitty…Chocolate contains caffiene and an alkaloid called Theobromine which is found in the husks of the coco bean. both ingredients can be extremely dangerous for cats. consumptions of chocolate can lead to seizurs, increased heart rate, confusion, nausea, coma and if consumed in a large amount can also be fatal.

2.coffee

As mentioned earlier caffiene is extremely dangerous for cats to consume, and as it is the main ingredient in cofffee it makes coffee forbidden for cats. consumption of caffiene in the blood is very risky for cats, it can cause jitteryness, aggression, an increased heart rate, blood pressure, seizures and even cause a stroke.

3.alcohol

Simply speaking alcohol is absolutely forbidden for cats. Be it anything from beer, whiskey, to the alcohol used in hand santizers and wipes. Alcohol contains ethanol and grain both of which a cats body is unable to digest and on cunsumption the kidneys and liver start working hard to get rid of it which in most cases can lead to severe poisoning and is extremely fatal. Even as little as 1 teaspoon of alcohol is enough to cause a catastrophy. symptoms include dizziness, vomiting, diarhea, nervous breakdown, coma and cardiac arrest.

4.grapes/raisins

Grapes and raisins are known to be toxic for dogs and can make a cat severely ill. consumption of grapes or dried raisins can cause intense vomitting, gastrointestinal disorder amongst other recorded illnesses.

5.lemons/oranges

Be it lemons, oranges or other citrus fruits all contain citric acid, limonene and other essential oils and compounds that are extremely toxic for cats and can cause symptoms ranging from depression, to a nervous breakdown. A high amount can be lethal extremely lethal and can result in death!.

6.eggplant/brinjal

Although its ok for cats to eat some vegetables, Eggplant, or brinjal however contain solanine a common compound found in the nightshade family which is toxic to humans and cats alike. Although the level of toxicity is higher in cats as they lack the necessary enzymmes to digest it.

7.onions/garlic/chives

Be it onions, garlic or chives all are extremely toxic for cats. and these should never be given in any form whatsoever. Garlic/onions contains sodium n-propyl thiosulfate. which causes irreparable damage to red blood cells. making them weak and causing them to breakdown. which can lead to extreme anemia, organ faliure and death.
